Social Media Policy

The purpose of this policy is to explain the position of YouTherapy Services regarding social media.

Social media and online presence

youTherapy Services has a social media and online presence. Clients are welcome to follow these.

Therapists and others working with youTherapy Services are likely to have personal social media sites. It is important that there is a distinct separation between private lives of individuals and working lives. Therefore, neither any requests by clients to follow on personal social media platforms should be accepted nor any requests to add to or follow clients on their social media platforms either during or after the therapy process should be responded to.

Client social media and online presence:

Therapists and those working with youTherapy Services must not:

  • Follow clients on personal social media sites

  • Search for personal details or information about clients with an internet that does not relate to the therapy work (unless this forms part of the work for whatever reason, and I your explicit permission to do so is received)

  • Request for clients to be added to, or to follow, on their social media sites, either during or after the therapy process

Should any personal information be inadvertently found about a client the person concerned should inform the client and an open conversation be had.
